Chinese scientists have developed a vaccine for tooth decay
Chinese scientists have developed a vaccine against caries. The innovative formulation has achieved promising results in animal tests. However, the vaccine’s formulation is still being refined and it could be years before it is on the market.
The vaccine was developed by scientists under the direction of Dr. Huimin Yan of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIOV) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the results of their work were published in the journal „Scientific Reports”.
Pr chnica tooth is a bacterial infectious disease. The bacteria primarily responsible are Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans). Chinese researchers just used proteins produced by the bacteria to create a vaccine and combined them with proteins extracted from some of the vaccine in the bacterium E. coli.
Researchers from the Middle Kingdom achieved successful results during the test in rats. Rodents deprived of pr cholera after receiving the vaccine showed a 64.2 percent. prophylactic efficacy. Rats, in which rych pr chnica was already occurring, after application of the preparation showed 53.9 percent. therapeutic efficacy.
The above results were obtained after administration of the second generation of the vaccine. The first, despite the fact that also showed high efficacy, caused unwanted side effects – primarily inflammatory conditions. However, the formulation has since been greatly improved. Completely different proteins were used in its production, kt rych task is to get rid of unwanted nipples side.
Interestingly, the vaccine was administered to rodents through the nose in the form of an injection and aerosol.
However, before the formulation hits the market, it faces a series of test in and it may be many years before we benefit from it. Nor does the vaccine mean that oral hygiene will be dispensed with. Even if it becomes the standard it will not replace tooth brushing .
Pr Crohn’s disease is a serious problem in most of the country. According to the World Health Organization, the problem affects between 60 and 90 percent of. children and adults. As you can see, the vaccine would benefit a whole lot of people. The preparation m Heads to prevent oral diseases, but Also ailments that re are the result of the occurrence of pr chnists.
