You have probably already heard about the new trendy diet – anti-smog. If not, then perhaps at least about the currently popular among d celebrities SIRT or OXY diet? Also nothing to you m i? But surely you already know a little about the PALEO or RAW diet, of course, with the addition of SUPERFOODS, ie. coconut oil… Almost every day you can find media reports about a new miracle diet, kt ra not only slims down or cleanses our body, but also gives it vitality, energy and radiance.
The problem is that in Polish society, as well as in most countries In the world, there is a rapid increase in the number of people b struggling with overweight and obesity and other eating disorders. For such os b, but also, of course, for many others, zar In both healthy and sick people, information on food and nutrition is of great importance. If they are unreliable, untrue, inadequate, or overly simplistic, they can mislead many people and do them real harm.
The growing information chaos caused by the media, celebrities In and conflicting nutritional recommendations related to he trendy diets, exacerbated by the lack of universal access to dietary advice in primary health care, mean that many Poles feel lost when it comes to healthy eating.
Fortunately, with the chaos prevailing in this area pr b is being fought by more and more institutions. One of them is the recently established National Center for Nutrition Education (NCEŻ), kt The center is run by experts from the Institute of Food and Nutrition (IŻŻ).
Modern technologies in health care
NCEŻ has just announced that to meet the expectations and needs of Poles , will launch an online dietary clinic at the end of this year, with which the rej via the Internet, free of charge will be available to all interested adults.
– In the maze of various information about what should be eaten and what should be avoided, among the d many so-called. m d nutrition, it is very easy to make mistakes and misunderstandings. The right help and signposting for os b seeking reliable knowledge about food and nutrition should be consultations with a qualified nutritionist – convinces prof. Miroslaw Jarosz, director of the IZŻ.
In his opinion, Polish doctors are unable to meet the expectations of patients The Institute of Food and Nutrition (IŻŻ) experts will provide comprehensive dietary advice, mainly on the Internet nie due to lack of time, kt ry is m.in. as a result of the shortage doctors in health care, but Also due to insufficient knowledge of doctors in the field of dietetics. According to the director of the Institute of Life Sciences, the solution to this problem should be to strengthen the position and role of nutritionists in health care, so that they complement the composition of the team of in therapeutic, supporting doctors in their daily work with patients (zar both in terms of prevention and treatment of the disease b).
– The Online Dietary Center we are creating is a socially important initiative, which The center will provide professional dietary counseling og mainly available. Until now, access to free dietetic advice in Poland has been limited, especially outside large urban centers. In our center, anyone interested will m head to get a professional dietary consultation, provided by qualified experts , in a way b convenient and modern, i.e. via the Internet – praises prof. Miroslaw Jarosz.
The center for online dietary counseling created by the National Center for Nutrition Research is to be available 12 hours a day on all working days. It will be permanently staffed by 6 qualified dietitians , which ers will be able to provide a total of several hundred consultations per week. Communication with dietitians will take place through a special communication platform (live, using voice and video and text messenger).
Detailed Technical and operational details of the center’s operation are to be revealed in early December. However, it is already known that in order to m c to benefit from the advice you will first need to register on the center’s website. Then, registered individuals will receive individual notifications of a specific consultation date online.
The center’s operation will be financed under the National Health Program 2016-2020.
Obesity and overweight on target
It is worth noting that the advice provided at the online center is to be personalized. Each will m head therefore find out what kind of diet he or she should follow given his or her current state of health, age, gender, etc. Dietitians will analyze how b nutrition patient in and point out the nutritional mistakes they make. They will also advise patients on how to effectively change bad eating habits.
Dietitians are also expected to inform the patient about possible adverse interactions of food with drugs and dietary supplements. They will also dispel the aforementioned popular food myths and fad diets, based on the latest scientific knowledge in dietetics.
The number one goal, however, will be to fight obesity.
– We are increasingly overwhelmed by the burden of sick b chronic, m.In. chor b cardiovascular system, diabetes or cancer. A significant proportion of these patients b is, however, more or less a result of the growing epidemic of overweight and obese. We must therefore make everyone aware that obesity itself is a disease that hich additionally leads to many dangerous complications. We will not be able to improve public health without an effective fight against overweight and obesity, which obesity in Poland is already struggling with nearly 18 million people b – concludes prof. Miroslaw Jarosz.
According to him, the key element in the systemic fight against this problem should be precisely to develop j professional dietary counseling, preceded by the legal regulation of the dietetics profession.
Indeed, few people realize that in light of the current, extremely liberal or rather underdeveloped regulations , a private dietitian’s office can literally open in our country „bulls”. This can be done by a completely random person, let’s call him euphemistically „entrepreneurial”, e.g. only after a two-week „dietary course” graduated in the proverbial Goat W lce or some nutritional training completed by correspondence. Meanwhile, according to doctors, a truly competent nutritionist is one who ry have a university degree, at least a bachelor’s or master’s degree, from a good university.
That’s why IŻ experts warn to carefully check the professional qualifications of dietitians in private offices. For they are often, unfortunately, incompetent persons!
